Affine recently made their alpha version of the Affine mobile application available in Test-flight for IOS.
This release is a canary version so you can only demo the application. This is not for production use as it could cause data corruption or loss.
With that said, the application does show us how far the dev team has gotten and possible things to come.
This version of the application (0.19.0-nightly-487158b) is not complete and has key elements of the application not working as they do on desktop.
Here are some images of the application:
Things I’ve initially noticed that do not work are:
Can’t set rules for Collections
Can’t add or edit anything in Edgeless mode. Update: This is possible by going into the settings. https://productivematters.substack.com/p/you-can-edit-in-affine-mobile
Can’t delete documents
Can’t connect to personal Workspaces, Demo Only.
And I’m sure there are more that are not in the list.
What you do get is a mobile application mostly for viewing. It’s basically a light weight companion app with this release but I’m sure that’ll change.
You can add Folders, Documents, Collections, and Tags. You can also add Journals.
There are also setting to change the light and dark theme, font style and language but I would have loved to be able to change the font size. The Experimental Features toggles are also available.
You can log into your Cloud account and sync across devices. Sync has worked extremely well in my experience.
All in all for an alpha version of the mobile application there’s a lot to look foward to. But it has been a long time coming so one might have expected a non alpha so that they could connect their personal workspaces to the application. I guess will have to wait and see if there’s a speedy turn around of the public release version. My fingers are crossed.
